Care@Home Project Officially Launched with Kick-Off Meeting in Kaunas

On 23–24 April 2026, the Kick-Off Transnational Partner Meeting of the project Care@Home – AI that Cares for Ageing at Home took place in Kaunas, Lithuania. The meeting was organised by the project coordinator, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU).

The Project is implemented under the Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2025 – Better care closer to home: Enhancing primary and community care, within the framework of the European Partnership on Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS). It brings together partners with significant expertise in health, technology, and innovation, aiming to develop advanced AI-based solutions to support ageing at home and improve the quality and accessibility of care services.

The project is carried out by an international consortium of beneficiaries: Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania, coordinator), Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Lithuania), Tallinn University of Technology – AI & Robotics Estonia (Estonia), Rīga Stradiņš University (Latvia), Jagiellonian University (Poland), Tampere University (Finland), Linköping University (Sweden), and Servicio Cántabro de Salud (Spain), in collaboration with UAB “Addere Care” Nursing Home (Lithuania) as an associated partner.

During the meeting, partners introduced their institutions, areas of expertise, and relevant experience. The consortium discussed the project concept, objectives, and expected outcomes, as well as the structure of the work packages and the implementation timeline. Particular attention was given to partner roles and responsibilities, decision-making procedures, quality assurance, and risk management.

Dedicated sessions were led by different partners, including KTU, LSMU, Jagiellonian University, Tampere University, and TalTech. These sessions focused on aligning expectations, refining planned activities, and agreeing on the next steps for implementation.

The meeting was marked by active engagement and enthusiasm from all participants. Partners contributed to discussions, shared ideas openly, and showed strong initiative in shaping the project’s direction. The collaborative atmosphere encouraged dynamic exchanges, constructive feedback, and a shared sense of ownership, reflecting a genuine commitment to achieving meaningful impact in home-based care.

Partners also reviewed communication and dissemination strategies, discussed common visual identity principles, and addressed administrative and contractual aspects. To ensure smooth cooperation, the consortium agreed to use established communication channels, hold regular meetings, and follow structured documentation practices.

The kick-off meeting in Kaunas laid a strong foundation for effective cooperation among partners and marked the official start of Care@Home, setting the direction for its successful implementation and long-term impact on innovation in home-based care.

This project received funding from Research Council of Lithuania (LMTLT), agreement No S-THCS-26-2 under the frame of Transforming Health and Care Systems, THCS, (GA N° 101095654 of the EU Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme).
