Darius Pupeikis

Associate Professor at KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture

Darius Pupeikis is a Ph.D. in civil engineering, associate professor at KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, a Head of the KTU Smart Cities and Infrastructure Centre. The main areas of the researcher’s activity are focused on community development, promotion of R&D activities, and strengthening of the study process, in the topics of information modeling of buildings, artificial intelligence, digital twins, and smart cities.

KTU associate professor is a meamber of the Council and Ethics Commission of the Lithuanian Construction Engineers Union, a member of the Lithuanian BIM methodology developer team organized by VŠĮ “Skaitmeninė statyba” and a member of the technical committee TK88 “Building Information Modeling” of the Lithuanian Standards Board (LST). D. Pupeikis has more than 15 years of practical experience: in the fields of structural design, expertise, and construction management.

in 2016 the researcher received an award from VŠĮ “Skaitmeninė statyba” for his contribution to the development of BIM methodology in Lithuania and the work done in developing the competitive abilities of the construction sector. In the same year, VŠĮ “Skaitmeninė statyba” was awarded the award for the evaluation of the projects of the “Lietuvos BIM projektai 2016” competition.

Next-generation Dynamic Digital EPCs for Enhanced Quality and User Awareness (D^2EPC)

From 2020 D. Pupeikis participates in the implementation of the “Next-generation Dynamic Digital EPCs for Enhanced Quality and User Awareness (D^2EPC)” project of the international “Horizon 2020” program (2020-2023). The aim of the project is to create a new generation digital dynamic certification system for the energy efficiency of buildings that assesses consumer awareness and quality improvement.

Application of Digital Built Environment Model in Structure’s Energy Efficiency Modelling (Energija 3D)

In 2020 the associate professor led the “Energy efficiency modeling of buildings using a digital model of the built environment (Energy 3D)” project. During it, scientists have developed a methodology for optimizing the efficiency of renewable energy sources (solar collectors), using 3D models of the built environment generated by photogrammetry.

Development of tools for increasing the efficiency of the life cycle processes of public sector structures using information modeling of a building (BIM-LT)

2019-2022 D. Pupeikis is the head of the activity group of the “Creation of tools for increasing the efficiency of the life cycle processes of public sector buildings, using building information modeling (BIM-LT)” project. The coordinator of the project is the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania. The project aims to create BIM methodology in Lithuania: regulatory documents, public procurement methodology, monitoring system, and National Construction Information Classifier.

Nordic_BIM_edu-Development of skills for Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Nordic countries higher education

The aim of the project was to improve the curriculum and teaching methods of higher education institutions in the fields of architecture and civil engineering. Particular attention was paid to the compatibility and applicability of design and innovative technological solutions through the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology and to the development of co-operation between higher education institutions and other organizations interested in implementing of BIM in the countries of the Nordic region.
